Surrounded - by Tidewater

For fans of The Rocket Summer, & OneRepublic.
Tidewater is Brett Allen's solo project.  Based out of St. Louis, MO, he released an EP "The Way That I Want You" (which features his cover of Beyoncé's "Halo") on March 8th, 2011 followed by his latest LP "The Seas We Sail" on April 12, 2011 on the ROXR label (though, it was released independently on August 17th, 2010).  "The Seas We Sail" was recorded (with producer Kevin Gales - Fiona Apple, Sarah McLachlan, Blind Witness) while he was majoring in film at Baylor University (Waco, TX).  The name 'Tidewater' is a moniker for part of the street name where Allen grew up.  This song is from "The Seas We Sail".

Beyond the Earth - by Jesse Sprinkle

Awesome song from an awesome album... with an awesome story & purpose......
Jesse Sprinkle is from Seattle, WA - he started his musical career at the age of 14 when he became the drummer for Poor Old Lu.  After POL broke up, he was drumming for multiple bands (at various times) including Starflyer 59, Denison Witmer, Michael Knott (& he also drummed for Brooke Barrettsmith's album [the former contestant of American Idol… now in the band Vialyne]).  He was also the first drummer for Demon Hunter (until before their 3rd album, "The Triptych"); then shortly after, he became the drummer for Dead Poetic & was with them until they went on a hiatus.  Aside from his drumming with other bands, he's also released 5 solo albums & a number of other side; & aside from his music career, he has been making trips to Uganda helping with the Ugandan Water Project, & other missions including work with orphans & rebuilding projects.  He now resides in East Avon, NY & co-operates Bluebrick Recordings.  His latest solo project, "Streamstory", was released just this past March & has an awesome story & purpose behind it (watch the YouTube video to see what I mean…).  This song is from "Streamstory".
(I cannot find the entire song on the internet, but you can hear the 1:30 long clip on iTunes:

& here's the mentioned video about what's behind the project, plus a clip of "Color of the First Light":

I'd highly recommend the album - not only is it good music, but also for some good causes…  Check it out!

F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. - by The Fall of Troy

Haven't heard this one in a while... lol
The Fall of Troy formed in 2002 & was from Mukilteo, WA.  They started as The 30 Years War but changed their name after a member left (due to schooling & such time constraints as they were still in high school at this time).  In May of the next year, they released their first LP (self-titled) as The Fall of Troy.  3 years later, after being signed to Equal Vision Records, they followed with the LP "Doppelgänger" (released August 16th, 2005) - this album contained this song which was featured as a bonus unlockable song on Guitar Hero 3.  The year after, they re-released their self-titled debut LP.  This was all followed by an LP ("Manipulator"), EP ("Phantom on the Horizon"), then a final LP: "In the Unlikely Event", all in consecutive years (starting in 2007).  It was 2010 when they announced that they were disbanding & they did a final tour in the spring.  However, they are still in the music industry, & former lead singer Thomas Erak has been promoting his new[-ish] band Just Like Vinyl on The Fall of Troy's various social networking pages.  As mentioned, this song was from "Doppelgänger".

(the "R.E.M.I.X." part comes because it's... well, pretty much a remix of the original: "F.C.P.S.I.T.S.G.E.P.G.E.P.G.E.P."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdvacK6Cmxo
& it's from their self-titled album.

& for the heck of it: here's the song on 'expert' level on GH3 (not a perfect run, but oh well… lol):

Need You Now - by Lady Antebellum

This song came on the radio today... then it stayed on in my head.
Lady A is based out of Nashville (like every other country acts of course! lol), TN.  They started in 2006 when Charles Kelly & Dave Haywood got together with Hillary Scott (who is - as I just found out - the daughter of Linda Davis).  Their self-titled debut album was released shortly after (they had signed to Capitol Records by then) & had their single "Love Don't Live Here" (released in Sept. of '07) debut at #1.  The album was produced by Paul Worley who has also produced for the Dixie Chicks, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Martina McBride, & [of course] more.  Much touring & other works ensued, including opening for McBride's 'Waking Up Laughing Tour' in 2008; & contributing "I Was Here" to the 'AT&T Team USA Soundtrack' for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.  January 26th, 2010 was the day their sophomore album "Need You Now" hit the streets; the title single was released in August of the previous year & easily hit #1 in Billboard Hot Country Songs - it also was nominated for & won multiple awards at multiple ceremonies (including 'Song of the Year' & 'Best Country Song' at the Grammys in 2011; 'Song of the Year' at the Academy of Country Music in 2010; 'Single of the Year' & 'Single by a Duo/Group' at the American Country Awards; & more!).  On May 2nd, 2011, they released their latest single "Just a Kiss" from their upcoming album.  This song is from "Need You Now".

The Fear Brought Us Here - by Dorean Lives

Tim's song of the day: The Fear Brought Us [Here] - by Dorean Lives.
Dorean Lives is from Birmingham, AL & they started in 2005. Comprised originally of Another Old Ending's Travis Hopkins & Adam Wesley's; & Logan Freeman (former guitarist for I Am Terrified - they've broken up now...). As their PureVolume page states: "The band named after Jessica Howard, Logan's first love who died and taught him the wonders of living in the process, began with an emotional start" (go to: http://www.purevolume.com/doreanlives
to read the whole story...). They released/posted a 4 song demo in 2006 on MySpace & have since grown. There's been some lineup changes, but they're currently practicing & getting management, etc. They also posted the following on their Facebook page just today: "This junk is getting real". This song was released just this year, I believe (just as a single).
