Hearts a Mess - by Gotye

Just quickly: I quite enjoy this song.
& Gotye is based out of Australia.  Wouter 'Wally' de Backer, known as Gotye, has released 3 full-length albums, most recently "Making Mirrors", in August of 2011, featuring the hit "Somebody That I Used to Know" (ft. Kimbra).  This song, however, is from his sophomore "Like Drawing Blood".

Trouble Ahead - by Little Hurricane

I've been listening to this album a lot lately, too.
Little Hurricane is a 'dirty blue duo' out of San Diego, CA.  The two members, guitarist/vocalist Anthony 'Tone' Catalano (formerly of Next in Line) & drummer/vocalist 'CC' met after responding to each other through a Craigslist post.  A short while after, they were playing this stuff & eventually independently released their appropriately titled album "Homewrecker" in April of 2011.  This song is from that album.

Falling for the First Time - by the Barenaked Ladies

So, I meant to post this earlier, but got distracted... my bad.
But nonetheless, I heard it on the radio earlier yesterday [technically], & was like, "aww yeah; takes me back..." (ok, not quite, but you get what I mean... :P ).

Paint the Stars - by Castle Lights

This has appeared at the top of my 'Recently Played' a few times the past couple days now... (not that it necessarily means much aside from the fact that I absolutely LOVE the music).
Castle Lights is a band out of Houston, TX.  It started as a solo project in 2007 after Jeremiah Wood left Leeland.  Originally named Light Parade, they went through some changes & eventually renamed themselves in time to record & independently release their EP "Paint the Stars" on November 12th, 2010.  They've showcased at SXSW & are currently still playing various dates & are also in the studio with some new music.  This song is from the EP of the same title ("Paint the Stars").

In My Head - by Until June

Guess what happened today?  I got this song stuck in my head.  Aaaoohhwwwww!!!

By the way, it sounds like Until June may be back at it... potentially.  After taking somewhat of a hiatus during which the members focussed on their own projects including Moderne Man (who's album you can download for FREE from their website) & My Dead Air, they recently posted a Facebook event for a new show at the beginning of March.  I'd say you should keep an eye out after that.

This song is from their "Sound of Defeat EP", released with Authentik Artists (Alan Parsons; IAMMEDIC; etc.) in 2009.  It was also featured the 6th season of Grey's Anatomy.

Update (a blog-like post + a word for the day)

So, I've been slack in doing this Song of the DAY thing, & as such, I think I'm going to hold off on doing the research that I've been doing for these (well, not so much the ones in the past while).  I may provide some links, but I've to re-prioritize some things, & this doesn't quite top finding a job or starting a business.  That said, some of these posts may be later (possibly midnight on some nights), too, because I still want to do this daily, but don't always have time before 10pm.

Aside from that: I may have something kinda exciting to do with this blog within the next couple months that'll happen every now & again.  Stay tuned - it's gonna happen.

Otherwise: I feel I should perhaps make this more of a typical blog, & perhaps I will with some songs.  We shall see.

That said: I've been going through some stress lately, but it's somewhat the exciting kind & it's leading to some good stuff to come.  & lately I've also been getting more & more inspired in a few different ways, including simply just being a better person & sharing [God's] love a little bit more.  Which is good.

& as addressed with the title, I have a word that I'd like to throw out there for today.  Literally: a word.
'Circadian'.
It's a cool word.  It's also a song by Falling Up from their latest release "Your Sparkling Death Cometh".  But it's a cool word.  "(of biological processes) Recurring naturally on a twenty-four-hour cycle, even in the absence of light fluctuations".
Why is it interesting to me aside from the fact that it sounds cool & it's a Falling Up song?  Well, the concept of having a routine & regime sounds nice to me, & seeing as I need to work on/practice some things, it sounds like a good idea to find a routine.  Reminding myself that I need to follow a circadian schedule concerning something - say, songwriting - kinda inspires me to do it.

That starts tonight.

...
after some more homework.
But I hope 'circadian' inspires you a little bit to find something better in your life that'll become part of your 24hr. day, too.

(*Fin) - by Anberlin

Ever get chills when reading typing out lyrics to another song?  Well, that's what happened when I was typing these ones out for a project... (speaking of projects & homework...)
Anberlin is from Winter Haven, FL.  They started in 2002, mostly coming from SaGoh 24/7 (the name being an acronym for 'Servants after God's own heart').  They signed with Tooth & Nail Records not too long after, & released their debut "Blueprints for the Black Market" in the year after.  Long story short, by the time their third album "Cities" came around in 2007, they caught the attention of quite a few - the album itself making it to #6 on Billboard's Rock Albums.  They've since released a B-sides, & two more LP's & a collection of other bonuses here & there.  They will be working on their 6th album later this month, returning to Aaron Sprinkle, who produced their first 3 albums (including "Cities", of course).  This song, in all its epic-proportions, is from "Cities", released on Tooth & Nail Records on February 20th, 2007.

In Your Eyes - by ...to tell

Brand new music video released just today - & in true To Tell form, it's fun & awesome.
...to tell is from London, On.  The four-piece "piano-driven pop/rock fire ball"* band has, over the past couple years, become somewhat of a well-seasoned band having toured with notable acts such as the Newsboys, Thousand Foot Krutch, & even Manafest.  Their first release came in 2008 - "The Sun Is Up and So Am I" EP was released independently, & followed by their LP "So Much More" in mid-2010.  Most recently, they were working on their "Away From Everything EP", produced by Joel Bruyere (yes, of Thousand Foot Krutch) & officially released January 27th, 2012.  This song is from that EP.

I Wanna Dance With Somebody - by Whitney Houston (R.I.P)

Probably the song I most remember by her...
Sadly, today, it was discovered that Whitney Houston had passed away in a Beverly Hills hotel.  Details are yet unknown, but what is known is that she will be missed, but always remember in her music & more.
This one's for her.

Needing/Getting - by Ok Go

I saw a trailer for this during the Superbowl on Sunday, & was wondering "what the heck??".  & so when a friend posted it on Facebook, well... I smiled.
(& again, due to the homework [in conjunction with a cold] thing, I don't have time to really go over who Ok Go is, but they are based out of Los Angeles, & have amazing music videos - this one was done in partnership with Chevrolet).

Main Theme - composed by Chris Tilton for the 2006 Criterion game "Black"

Absolutely amazing music.
Black (FYI - age check is required) was released in early 2006 for the PS2 & Xbox gaming systems.  The music for the FPS (first person shooter) game was composed by Chris Tilton, & this theme specifically was composed was done in collaboration with Michael Giacchino; the soundtrack was orchestrated by Tilton & Tim Simonec, & recorded & mixed by Dan Wallin - all of this recorded with the Hollywood Studio Symphony at FOX Studios.

But really, you should just go here & purchase the soundtrack

Also: you should check out the website (linked in the first paragraph with the title "Black") - they've got some cool behind the scenes stuff that you can read up on...

Start at the Beginning - by Among Savages

Picked this up (well, downloaded; as I'm not 100% certain if you can actually 'pick it up' somewhere) the other week, & I've been loving it since.
Among Savages is based out of Nashville, TN.  The sole member behind the project is mid-20 year old Peter Barbee, who independently released his debut album "Wanderings of an Illustrative Mind" on January 17th, 2012.  This song is from that album.

Captives Come Home - by Run Kid Run (also: 1 year anniversary apparently...)

Have I ever said how much I love their music?  If no, then: I do absolutely love their music.  If yes, I'll say it again: I do absolutely love their music.
&, as it turns out, today marks 1 year exactly since I started posting on here.  Happy... ummm... 1 year anniversary?..  Yay!

Run Kid Run is based out of Nashville, TN.  The majority of their members originally came from another Tooth & Nail band Side Walk Slam.  In 2006, these members came together to form RKR, where they remain on T&N to release their albums, starting with their LP "This is Who We Are", also in 2006 - this resulted in much attention & a couple of singles that charted high in a couple of charts.  Their sophomore, "Love at the Core" came two years later, with multiple singles going to #1 in various charts as well & the album itself making it to #28 on Billboard's Heatseekers Album chart.
While their first two albums were produced by James Paul Wisner (New Found Glory; Dashboard Confessional; Underoath), their latest work - another LP: "Patterns" - was produced by Mark Townsend (Relient K; The O.C. Supertones) & Relient K lead singer/musician Matthew Thiessen.  It was released on November 15th, 2011 & has seen some chart success too.
This song is from their sophomore, "Love at the Core", released April 29th, 2008.

Life is Just a Dream - by Ruth

Hey; so - don't give up on me just yet, 'cause I haven't given up on this blog & songs yet. I've just had a number of random things coming work & a bunch of work to be done...
But nonetheless; I do look forward to the new album from this band.
Ruth is from Battle Ground, WA.  The band formed in early-mid 2000's after lead singer/guitarist Dustin Ruth (for whom the band is named after) gave up the life of partying & drugs that came after forming a band before this one.
When deciding on a name for the band Ruth, Dustin & fellow guitarist Nick Wiinikka were discussing the potential of simply naming the band after his name - Ruth.  Upon further discussion, it came to mean more than just his name - a representation, of sorts, resulting in it also being an acronym: 'Return Us To Him' ("Him" of course, referring to God).  Ruth's label debut album (this after 2 independent EP's) "Secondhand Dreams" was released in 2007 on Tooth & Nail Records, where they remained for their next release, "Anorak" in 2008, & their "The Covers EP" in 2009. Since then, they've gone independent, & have since had their upcoming album "Payola" picked up by the MTV label.
This song is from "Payola".
