I Love a Rainy Night - by Eddie Rabbitt

I figured it was appropriate for tonight.
Edward Thomas "Eddie" Rabbitt was born Nov. 27, 1941, in Brooklyn, NY.  He dropped out of school when he was 16, and after a number of singles with 20th Century Records, he moved to Nashville in '68 when he was 27; & though it took a few years to get his music career going, "he paid the rent through songwriting, authoring Elvis Presley's 'Kentucky Rain' [1970] and Ronnie Milsap's 'Pure Love' [1974]".  He signed with Elektra Records (Bruno Mars, Harry Chapin, The Doors, Grandmaster Flash, & so on…) in '75, & followed the signing with a number of hits including "Forgive and Forget" [1975] and "Drinkin' My Baby (Off My Mind)" [1976].  Rabbitt has released more than a dozen studio albums over the course of his career - which, by the way, was broken up by a three year hiatus after his son passed away of a fatal liver disease in 1985.  On May 7th, 1998, Eddie Rabbitt died from lung cancer in Nashville; he was 56.  This song is from his LP "Horizon", released in 1980.
